Crappy hunting grounds

Any decent pet owner knows there are certain unpleasant duties one must regularly perform...
(Wreck-it Ralph's Vanellope von Schweetz voice "HAAAAAA-HAHA-haaa *snort* he said DOODIES!"),
so there was already some reluctance when I went into the backyard to clean up.

To my surprise, I found things...occupied.

An average Bald-Faced Hornet (Dolichovespula maculate) is more than double the size an Eastern Yellowjacket (Vespula maculifrons), they have stronger jaws & a much more powerful sting.
LOL! That's not from an animated movie, but the voice of personal experience.
I've gotten hit many times over the years by Yellowjackets & the stings felt like being stuck with a heated needle.
Only once was I on the wrong side of a BFH.
Many years ago, one had somehow gotten trapped in my sleeve...
and after buzzing angrily around my underarm for a few moments, it finally demanded to be shown an exit...
YEEEEOUCH! It felt like someone had whacked the back of my arm with a red hot finishing hot nail.

Even though I realized it wouldn't be the most appealing subject matter or background, I couldn't resist slipping back inside to get my camera anyway to try & document what was happening.

There must be a nest around somewhere, possibly up in the maple tree on the side yard, because there wasn't much from the dogs out there,
but there was nearly steady procession of them hunting the flies. With such formidable security force active, you can understand why the task took quadruple the time to complete.

LOL! Hey, I'm a conscientious pet owner,
but it's not like I'm gonna argue for IMMEDIATE possession of dogcrap
- especially not with one of these ladies!
