Geometric Jambalaya

I looked out the other day and saw it was very lightly snowing, so I thought "I wonder what the flakes are like."

Reaching into the chest freezer, I grabbed my flake catcher (a clipboard with some dark fabric) & stuck it outside. 

It was only out there for as long as it took me to put on my boots, coat and check my camera was ready. In that short span however, the snowfall increased significantly. To make matters worse, the wind had picked up a bit & started carrying even more snow from the neighbor's roof.

When I stepped out, the clipboard was completely covered!

That figures! I wanted to see if I could get a good few individual crystals, but I ended up with way, WAY too many. I had to shake much of the accumulation off. I must say that was a bit disappointing too; there were some really nice crystals amongst them and disturbing them often causes significant damage.

LOL! Oh well, it's a shining example of photography reflecting reality.

After all, trying to limit the flakes you encounter is just another part of life...
