Yes, I've done this type of image before with a castoff carapace from a Platycryptus Undatus,
Last season's top fashion by The-Dude-L-Bug
but I just had to try with this cap from a Phidippus Audax.
I think it turned out quite nice.

LOL! I know...
the size differences in the 2 seem huge!
However that's because this carapace is not only from a bigger spider, but it's sitting on a significantly smaller pinhead.

The last time, shooting was extremely difficult due to the carapace being free to react to the presence of static charges & surrounding EM fields.
This time, the fit on the pin was snug, which made this much easier to photograph.

Thank you very much. :)

(LOL!  At least this one was a bit easier shot to get than the first time I tried it.)

Fascinating! :wow: That's almost alien-like. I love exoskeletons.

Taking images of the carapaces isn't easy.
They're very light and tend to move with ridiculous ease from influences of electric fields.

Even a small static charge on your hand can cause them to suddenly flip over a foot away - as though you'd deliberately flicked it with your finger.
